Parents
We understand that as a parent, you want to help your son make an informed decision about whether or not he should be a part of Greek Life. The purpose of this page is to inform you of the benefits of fraternity membership and to dispel some common myths about being in a fraternity.
Academics
Academics should be your son's number one focus while in college. At TKE, brothers are required to maintain a minimum GPA to remain active in the fraternity. Additionally, our scholarship chair is an elected officer whose purpose is to help brothers maintain good academic standing. If your son has grade troubles, he can assist them in obtaining tutoring or any extra help they might need. TKE also has a 'grade team' program that provides free or reduced rent to brothers who perform exceptionally in their academics.
Time Commitment
Being in a fraternity, like any other worthwhile activity, requires an investment of one's time. Research has shown that involved college students are more likely to graduate and they report greater satisfaction with their college experience. Being involved in TKE will help your son learn to balance his academic, work, and social commitments and gain valuable time-management skills.
Financial Responsibility.
We understand that being in a fraternity is an investment, and not everyone has extra money to spend. All money that goes to TKE has a well-defined purpose, and contributes to the management of our chapter house, member programming, leadership development and social activities. When you consider those benefits, along with the opportunity to become a member of a large professional and social network, and build relationships that will last a lifetime, the return on investment is well worth the price!
Joining TKE is a decision that will reward your son with great experiences and lifelong friendships. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
